The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Maintenance Manager to lead the Maintenance Department within the Copenhagen Light Rail business unit. The Light Rail business unit is a young and developing organization, operating within a well-established international company.
Reporting directly to the Business Unit Director, you will be a key member of the Senior Management Team. In this role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to three Sector Managers and one First-Line Manager, with overall responsibility for a department comprising approximately 25 employees.
This role offers the chance to blend strategic oversight with hands-on leadership, focusing on cutting-edge maintenance solutions and driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive long-term strategy for maintenance operations, ensuring we meet evolving demands in urban mobility
- Implement the latest technological solutions to optimize performance, reliability and safety
- Manage the business unit’s Maintenance budget and align operational goals with financial targets
- Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures and full compliance with all technical standards and regulatory requirements
- Provide clear, actionable performance reports to the Business Unit Director, management and stakeholders to support transparency and continuous improvement
- Foster a culture focused on best practices and cross functional collaboration and ongoing improvement
- Continuously monitor and refine maintenance processes to ensure optimal efficiency and effectiveness
- Can prioritize between budgets, tasks and resources
- Act as the Duty Operations Manager (DOM) on a turn basis with other managers
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you are a strategic and analytical leader with the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable plans. You bring several years of experience leading managers and overseeing projects, and you consistently enable your teams to deliver strong results through clear direction and effective governance.
You have extensive experience in people and change management and know how to balance organizational development with day-to-day leadership. You lead by example, foster engagement, and unite your organization around shared objectives. Experience working with public authorities and external partners is essential, and you are a skilled negotiator with a strong track record in stakeholder management.
You hold a higher technical education or equivalent, such as an engineering degree or a master’s degree in management. Several years of experience within the railway industry is considered an advantage. You possess a solid understanding of IT systems, safety management, and regulatory compliance, enabling you to navigate complex mechanical, electrical, and network-based environments.
You are fluent in both Danish and English and communicate clearly and confidently across all levels of the organization.
